Getting started
Company of One is an office for a one-person business. Your AI does the work in it. You decide what goes out.
New here? This is the right place to start, even if the sign-in page says "Welcome back": that page greets everyone the same way. These help pages are open to anyone, before you sign up.
Before you start: you need your own AI
Company of One has no chat of its own. The work is done by your own AI app, which you link to your office once. The office is where you see everything and say yes.
- Which AI apps work, and which free plan is enough: see "Connect your AI".
- Your AI knows your business from your company folder: it asks you what it needs, one question at a time. You don't need any files to start: your own words are enough.
Without an AI you can look around, say yes or not yet to cards, and do a few small things yourself (see "What you can do yourself"). Making your website, your emails and your courses is your AI's work.
Start your free trial
- Open the sign-up page and type your email address.
- We email you a code. It works for 10 minutes. No password, ever.
- Type the name of your business. You can change it later.
- Your office is ready. The trial is free for 15 days, with no card.
If the 10 minutes pass, nothing is lost: ask for a new code and type the new one. If the page shows the email box again, type your email again. It says plainly when your email address already had its free trial.
Connect your AI
Your office shows one address for your AI. Add it as a connector in Claude, ChatGPT or Codex, sign in when it asks, and say "Start Company of One." Then set up your AI app's scheduler to run it every weekday morning, in its cloud, so your morning brief comes even with your laptop closed. The page "Connect your AI" has the steps.
Your first days
- Your AI starts in your office and tells you what to do first.
- Work comes as tasks. Your AI picks one up, does it, and shows you what it did.
- Anything that goes out to people waits on a yes card until you say yes. See "Nothing goes out without your yes".
- You can talk to your AI in your own words. It knows your company from your folder: your direction, your offers, your voice.
When a button seems to do nothing
Many buttons don't do the work themselves. They write the request for your AI, so you don't have to.
- Make my website on Home opens a small panel with the request already written. Pick your AI app at the top and tap Open: your AI app opens with the request in it. Or tap Copy instead and paste it yourself.
- On your phone, buttons like Make my first page copy a message and show "Copied, paste it into your AI" for two seconds. Open your AI app and paste it there.
- Set it up myself opens a short note right there: what the step needs and how it works. There is no form to fill in.
- Set up my business, on Connect your AI, copies the first request for your AI. Paste it in a new chat.
- Starting something new or Bringing a business I run saves your answer and shows your steps. Nothing is built yet.
- The search box finds people, tasks, media and files in your company. The speech-bubble button next to it writes a question for your AI.
So when nothing seems to happen, the message is usually waiting on your clipboard. Open your AI app and paste it. If a button still does nothing, tell a person (see "Talk to a person").
What you can do yourself
These work in the office without your AI:
- add a person, and change their name, phone, stage and notes (in People),
- add a class with its day, time, seats and price (Operations, Classes, Add a class),
- fill in your company details (Settings, Company details),
- change the words of your offers, your look and your voice (Management),
- upload photos and films (Media), say yes or not yet to cards, and export your data.
Changing the words or photos on your website is your AI's work today: tell it what to change, look at the preview, and say yes.
The trial: try everything, nothing goes public
During the free trial you can try every part of the office, and nothing reaches the outside world:
- emails go only to you,
- no social posts go out,
- your website stays a preview that only you see.
If the trial ends and you don't pick a plan, your office is kept for 90 days. Then it is erased, and we email you a day before. The same happens 90 days after a plan stops being paid.
Days left, and will it charge me?
- The trial is 15 days. We never take money by ourselves: there is no card on file, so nothing is charged when it ends.
- We email you when 5 days are left and when 2 days are left, and your AI tells you how many days are left when it starts.
- When the trial ends, your office turns read-only. Pick a plan to carry on. Your work is still there.
- If you don't, we email you 30 days, 7 days and 1 day before your office is erased.
- One free trial per email address. If yours was used, you can start straight on a paid plan: this is coming soon. Until then, write to a person.
Going live
When you're ready, pick a plan in Billing. Every plan has every department and feature. Plans differ only in how much they hold. After that, your website can go live, emails reach your customers and posts go out, each after your yes.
Billing shows each plan's price and exactly what it holds. Prices are in euros, shown without VAT, and the VAT is added at checkout for your country. The people, bookings and students you have are never limited on any plan: what grows with the plan is the emails a month, the contacts you can email, live websites, social accounts and video. See "Limits".
Your office in your language, and who emails you
- Settings, Language sets your company's language: English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish or Italian, for the whole office. Most office screens follow it, and so do the emails your customers get: call bookings, newsletter confirmations and your members' sign-in codes.
- Some screens are still in English, for example parts of Marketing, Media and Money, and the boxes where you edit text.
- Some emails are still in English: your own sign-in code (your language is coming soon) and the class emails until you have your own words (see "Bookings").
- Your own words stay as you or your AI wrote them. So one email can be in your language and the next in English.
- Customers get your company's language. One language per company for now, not one per person.
- Your website's language: tell your AI (see "Your website").
- Emails from us come from hello@companyofone.eu. Our welcome emails are signed by our founder. They are real.
- After sign-up you get "Your office is ready" by email. Not there after a few minutes? Look in your spam folder, then write to a person.
Where things are
- Approvals: the cards waiting for your yes.
- Billing: your plan, add-ons and invoices from us.
- Settings: your websites, your domains, your newsletter, your language, your time zone (every time is shown and planned in it, Amsterdam to start; changing it never moves a time already set) and your data.
- Help: these pages. Your AI reads the same pages before it answers you.
